SageRight founder and CTO, Neal Firth, has been using Perforce since 1998.
From his first job developing microcode simulators (chronicled as part of the 1983 Pulitzer prize winning book "The Soul of a New Machine" by Tracy Kidder) Neal's career has focused on the tools and automation that make organizations more productive.
The Perforce product provides an exceptional combination of performance, capability, and flexibility. It is a tool that encourages productivity and adapts to almost any situation.
Perforce Consulting
Neal completed the rigorous process to become a Perforce Consulting Partner (PCP) in 2001. Being a PCP means he is more than just a long term Perforce user. His industry knowledge and experience makes him uniquely capable of providing "big picture" solutions that are both timely and efficient. Using a PCP to meet your Perforce consulting needs is your assurance of a thorough, professional job.
Some of Neal's recent Perforce consulting engagements have included:
- Branch and merge best practice knowledge transfers.
- Deployment evaluation and Administrator transition assistance.
- Defect tracking tool integrations.
- High availability configuration.
- Scripting and trigger usage knowledge transfer.
See the SageRight consulting page for more details about the advantages of using SageRight to meet your consulting needs.
Perforce Training
Neal became a Perforce Certified Trainer (PCT) in 2003. Being a PCT means he is more than just a "talking head" reading from a prepared set of generic slides. He uses real-life examples from his significant Perforce experience to bring students a deeper understanding of Perforce usage best practices. Using his broad knowledge of other source control tools assists students with a transition to the Perforce paradigm. Using a PCT to meet your Perforce training needs assures you of a quality training experience based on quality training materials.
PCTs use the exceptional Perforce branded training materials as the basis for their training. However, most organizations require some level of customization to either the presentation sequence or the materials. Some of Neal's popular customizations include:
- Half-day user feature reviews. An efficient way to assure that even large teams have the knowledge to use Perforce effectively and productively.
- Full-day user feature reviews. Extends the half-day feature review with a selected set of exercises to reinforce concepts and usage.
- Full-day in-depth feature reviews. Extends the half-day review with additional functional and best practice emphasis on topics of specific customer interest - typically branching.
- Full-day administrator training with an emphasis on the specific needs of the customer's deployment.
